Furniture
Cyprus is a land with many traditional skills – not least in the area of quality furniture making. For many years the sector was characterised by factory shops which catered for all aspects of home furniture making. However, in recent times, with more competition and the need for greater efficiency, the position has changed. Nowadays there are many examples of furniture factories that are growing and are very successful, based upon their traditional skills, but specialising and trading to meet the new challenges.
The art and business of furniture making is strongly established in Cyprus, handed down through the generation. It is a sector which has successfully adapted to change and has developed its markets – not just internally, but also for export.
A recurring theme is one of quality, meeting and exceeding customer needs, and providing excellent customer service. As elsewhere, this has involved specialisation, and there is an undoubted range of quality suppliers based in Cyprus. Talented designers create magnificent furniture for the most demanding foreign markets and the local manufacturers can offer great value as they can produce in a fraction of the cost of other European competitors who offer comparable quality.
Cypriot manufacturers have also expanded beyond furniture, by designing and applying a wide range of woodwork projects for the construction and decoration of interior/exterior spaces of residences or businesses.
The product range does not finish there. Cypriot mattresses manufacturers are renowned as their models are made to standard British sizes, with European variations possible. Their ranges meet the strictest European and global standards and manufacturing flexibility to a near-bespoke level means that there can be different mattress types in one container, each tailored to customers’ needs. Cypriot exports include mattresses, divans, box spring beds and top mattresses in all versions – soft, orthopaedic, anatomic and the advanced pocketed spring technology.
The location of Cypriot manufacturers provides good accessibility to both the European and Middle East markets, and for the provision of components as and when needed.
